Thonglor Police station notice about searching foreigners for contraband.

 

Here is a typed out listing of all the information and data from the leaflets that were getting handed out in Thonglor and Asoke (Soi Cowboy area a few days ago)

 

 

1. Searching foreigners

 
1.1 Foreigners may take photos of police office®s who do the search before searching begins.
 
1.2 Searching has to be done in a place with sufficient lighting and not be desolated.
 
1.3 Do not pay any amount of money to police officers whether you are asked to do or not.
 
1.4 In case you are on (in) a vehicle or a taxi, whether a private vehicle or a taxi,
police officers who stop a vehicle and do the search must be in a proper checkpoint, under control of a commissioned officers.
 
2. Collecting urine specimen must be done only in the police station.
 
3. Foreigners could carry a copy of first page and entry stamped page of their passport instead of the original one.

Sounds like a pretty ridiculous situation going on there with the police and those searches. My friends in Bangkok are complaining to me everytime we chat, about how they get stopped or they see other people getting stopped and searched in Sukhumvit area.

 

I love Thailand, but I'm actually glad not to be there this time during those stupid searchings.

So far I've been lucky to have avoided these searches during these recent ones.

 

I have been many times, and they questioned me hardcore about things like hospital-prescribed Xanax (before when it was legal) and even when I'm carrying around dog treats for stray animals. Really annoying.
