We all knew Rodrigo Duterte was going to win the election. Pre-election time you could see that even though Duterte was in total control of Davao City (as mayor), that even in Manila there was a HUGE majority of Philippines citizens supporting Duterte far more than any other presidentual candidates. I was there a couple weeks before the election and as a foreign outsider you still get the feeling that he would win, absolutely positively! Every person i talked to, taxi drivers, waiters/waitresses, Filipino/Filipina friends, etc all support him.

 

He seems like a loose cannon but also has done a lot to clean up Davao City. From anti smoking laws & liquor bans to vigilante murderes of criminals or ex-criminals.

I'd like to know what are your opinions about him? Did you think the candidates would have been better choices, like Mar Roxas or Grace Poe?

 

Some things i dont like about Duterte are:

 

1. His comments (joke) about the Australian missionary who was raped and murdered in a hostage situation in 1989. He reacts pretty badly in this article.

 

2. His comments about how to clean up the "stray animals problem", a comment he made many years about, but still shows lower education type mentality. Article here shows his terrible views about animals and animal rights. He's Catholic yet he can't even respect life that was created from his "G*D".

 

3. Death squads, i dont think these should be operating by any government. Supposedly over 1000 people in Davao were killed from his death squads. He also commented that "if i become president i'll bring back the death penalty and 100,000 criminals will be killed and dumped into Manila Bay". WTF!

 

Those are things i don't personally care for, but after discussing with many of my Filipino friends, they all seem to think he is the ONLY candidate that can make Philippines safe. Putting fear into criminals minds to hopefully make them think twice before snatching phones/purses, or committing crimes.

He seems so fucked up, i'm a bit shocked that they voted him in, but I think this goes to show that people of PH are pretty desperate!

 

I dont like the fact that he's planning to close all bars/nightlife in Philippines strictly at like 1 or 2am that is insane!

By the way, a follow up to this topic... i asked 1 of my filipina friends, a Duterte supporter, if she still thinks he's doing as good of job as he claimed he'd do. She said yes! She said they are already getting a 911 type emergency number (finally), also that many druglords, or accused druglords have already turned themselves in.

I still read a lot about him, his tactics and all, and in articles, on paper, he seems terrible, but if he's really on the ground doing work, and making good changes for the majority there, then by all means, great job Rodrigo!!

 

By the way, he recently called the US Ambassador to the Philippines a "Gay son of a bitch" LOL

Most people here in USA learned to hate him, after his recent attack on our Ambassador to Philippines, to our involvement in anything and everything, and his verbal insults to our president Obama.What a fucking freak! So if I'm there smokin da herb i have to worry, not about going to jail, or paying a fine, but more about getting murdered by police? FUCK THEM

I was listening to NPR radio, and they interviewed a lady who was working for Duterte. She was a Hit Woman. She said she was doing it to take care of her kids. I would love to be there when her kids find out their mother is an assassin. I guess it's better than being a prostitute.

This is the stuff we see, hear, or know about, imagine all the stuff he talks behind closed doors with his inner circle, family, friends. Endless possibilities! lol

Well have you heard? Duterte now wants to make it necessary for American citizens to have visas to enter Philippines. FUCKKKKKKKK WTF!

Duterte obviously has a personal hatred for Americans. He is pretty open about his experience while visiting USA long ago, and VERY open about his hatred towards American policy and American citizens
