I visited Manila Philippines to apply for my Thai tourist visa and decided to finally try Airbnb as I've heard nothing but great things. I found a place that looked great, and had 22 reviews that were nearly perfect!!!

I booked the place for the week, excited to roll in there, met the owner guy and he was as pleasant as can be.

Next step, unpack and get settled in! After about 20min of being there i realized there was a major problem. There were cockroaches everywhere! Went to the grocery story to get Baygon bug spray to help out the situation, it killed them, but they would never stop coming, on tables, around my bags, running towards every food, crack, toilet, shower, corner of every room, and first night there feeling a tickle on my head, wokeup, and found one was in my bed (and on my fcking head!!!)

Ends up the shower water heater was broken, the washing machine broken, so i went back to check the 22 reviews, and there was NOT ONE negative mention of any of these things!!!! Is it possible that Airbnb has fake reviewers? This is a huge turn off. Either 22 people were most likely dishonest, withholding truth, or just straight up taking herion their duration of staying in this condo.

What are your Airbnb experiences? have any horror story like this?

UGHHHH fucking frustrated!!! I am going to submit my own review, factual and truthful very soon, I hope future people can be warned about these issues as all 22 reviewers before me gave me no warning, (mofos!)

Dude, that sucks!

While in Thailand, I stayed in 3 AirBnb's in Bankok and one in Phuket. The people that ran them were all great and the places were pretty nice. Specially the Aspire condos in Rama 9.

I think you just ran into some shady people. But AirBnb is has pretty good customer service. I think you should be able to get your money back.

Hey! By the way, post the link to the place you stayed in. I'm thinking about going to PH instead of Bangkok this coming year and I was planning on staying in Manila a few days.

I don't want to end up in the same AirBnb

Ya i want to review it first, a nice, FULL and FAIR review.

Really disappointed at the previous 22 reviewers, they were all terrible reviews imo for the fact that not 1 person mentioned the "problem"

Awww.... That's b.s.!!! Do you at least still have the link? You can post that here. We should start a thread of Air Bnb's to stay in if you're looking for one.

Link:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14079033

i just emailed Airbnb today, asking if i can submit my review, telling them "i feel future customers have a right to know about this" etc etc, lets see if they respond

edit:

they replied:

I can understand that you want to provide the review and its great to learn that we have such responsible Guests as the part of Airbnb Community but unfortunately we don't have the option of posting a review after the review period is expired. For your reference, I have mentioned below the Help Center link giving you the complete information about how-do-reviews-work.

dammit!
