Hi, I was in Bangkok once before, a few years ago, and friends and I are planning another trip back there. We love there! (especially the spicy Thai foods, and of course the partying in Kao San and Sukhumvit 11).

I know how fast things can change in bigger cities like Bangkok, as I'm from New York City, so I would like to know if anyone can give us some help, what are the best mid-range hotels, (2, 3, 4) star hotels, best value, best "bang for our buck" so to speak.

Would love to hear what you have suggesting. Also, we'd love something central, Sukhumvit, Kao San (not those cheapy hostiles though), to Silom area :)

Hi Kimmy, welcome to BangkokForum.

About great value hotels, the handful of places I usually refer friends or family to are mid range hotels, usually between $40-80, and all have swimming pools and gyms. Bangkok has great value hotels so asking for free wifi, swimming pool and gym is a must.

1. Baan Montida Serviced Apt.

2. Citadines Sukhumvit 16 Bangkok

3. Citichic by iCheck Inn

4. iSanook Residence

All are also centrally located. Good luck and enjoy your time in Bangkok. Btw, are you traveling anywhere outside of BKK? or only staying inner city? And for how long?

I live in BKK so I don't have much experience anymore with hotels there (i'm not there now) but my friends always stayed in Ascott in Sathorn (a bit near Silom area), it was pretty nice, with an awesome gym and pool area. The price was quite high though if I remember correctly. I think in the $150 range per night.

I'm thinking for more though.... I stayed in plenty before, but was a long time ago.

Hey Kimmy, don't forget to checkout https://www.airbnb.com/ they have some GREAT deals sometimes. But be careful also, sometimes those condo/home owners put steep prices too. It goes both ways, search around you'll see great deals along with terrible deals.

Enjoy your time back here in Krung Thep!
