So I am a pretty avid basketball fan and have been following the Thai Basketball League here pretty closely and found out there is a Thai-American basketball player named Ken Opamuratawongse. From other locals I understand that he just finished high school in the United States and was playing in the basketball league here. I think he is pretty good but am wondering how come the national team has not taken players like this?

Here are his highlights:  https://www.youtube....h?v=MT5tL-ep6Tc

Never heard of that guy but he's got a killer shot!!! Looks like he drains 3's all day long!

Here's the vid embed so can watch right from this thread ;)

Btw the only others I could find are:

- Anthony Ampaipitakwong - plays for Bangkok United in the Thai Premier League - https://en.wikipedia..._Ampaipitakwong

- Tiger Woods (i had no idea he's part Thai) - professional golfer - https://en.wikipedia...iki/Tiger_Woods

- Johnny Damon - Major League Baseball player - https://en.wikipedia...ki/Johnny_Damon (He actually played for Thailand national baseball team before too.)

Any others?

Hi! New to this forum but found the post on google search and wanted to chime in.

Ken is just one of the few Thai Ams that we have been unearthing. If you watched the TBL, you might have come across a name, Moses Morgan. His mother is Thai. Morgan played in the NCAA Div 1 for Depaul/Cal State Fullerton. He played in the TBL for PEA and now plays in the ASEAN Basketball League for the Saigon Heat as an ASEAN Import.

Also in the ABL are two more Thai-AMs. Freddie Goldstein is a slick point guard who played at South Alabama. Tyler Lamb was one of the best shooting guards in the US out of high school and played for UCLA and Long Beach State. Both are now playing for Hitech Bangkok City.

You can read more about Thai-Ams here.

You can follow more about the Thailand Basketball scene and the basketball scene in the ASEAN region in general at my facebook page >> here

The ASEAN Basketball League is still early in the season and Thailand is fielding two teams this year. The aforementioned, Hitech Bangkok City, and Mono Vampires. There's still about 16 home games left between both teams, so if anyone is in the area...please check it out!
